Changing Directions ~ Heading East

Saturday, October 1

We left Portland about 9:30am after repacking the car and getting gas.  Oregon is one of two states left that still have attendants pumping your gas.    This morning when the young man saw the NY  plates he told John that he liked his accent and it was an honor filling his tank!  Gotta love Oregon.

This was basically a driving day from Portland, Oregon to Carson City,Nevada.  We drove about 10 hours and enjoyed the scenery along the way.  We noticed that it was getting dark around 6:30 and by 7:30 it was very dark.  For that reason and the fact that we weren't ready to give up the comforts of the last week at  Dana's, we spent the night at a Hampton Inn.

The scenery changed yet again and reminded us of the
old westerns as we entered California.

We spotted a coyote stalking its prey in a field so we stopped and watched as he captured it.

We caught the sun setting over the California sky before entering Nevada.

We are heading to Lake Tahoe this morning and then on to Yosemite.  We anticipate that there will be no internet or phone service at the campsite or in the park therefore you may not hear from us for a few days.
After a good nights sleep we are heading out with sunny skies and temps in the low 70's.
